Born Samuel Andrew Montalvo on October 2, 1987 in Brooklyn, NY, now leaving in Hawaii attending college. His major is undecided. Respectively nicknamed "SAM" after his initials. He enjoys sleeping, hiking, running, auto racing, being silly, hanging around friends and teammates and community service. Aside from being a positive athlete Sam servers as a Street Fleet Team member with DIS-N-DAT. His favorite food is Italian and Pizza. His Parents are Shirley and Michael Montalvo and he is the eldest of four siblings, Joshua, Anastasia, and Matthew, also owns an evil kitty!

A 2005 graduate at William Cullen Bryant High School in Long Island City, NY. Four-time letterman in Cross Country/XC (1), Indoor Track and Field(1), and Volleyball (2) at Bryant HS. Ran Middle Distance for coach Adam Tanalski in Track and outside hitter for coach Steve Hagenlocher in volleyball. In XC/Track he was named captain. Sam helped his team qualify for the New York City Public Schools Athletic League (NYCPSAL) championship meet. Earned Scholar-Athlete of the Week (XC) and Rookie of the year honors. In volleyball, Sam helped the 2005 team leading the Owls to their first NYCPSAL Championship Title. Named Bryant's co-captain as a senior with fellow teammate Jonathan Tuwaidan. Sam earned Scholar-Athlete of the Week (volleyball) and All-City honors from the NY Newsday in 2005.

Played three seasons for Creole/Stellar Volleyball Club and was regional champions in 2006.
